A native to Syracuse, New York, Julie Hirota moved to Northern California to go to college and eventually pursue an engineering career. She is an accomplished artist and published author who started as an art quilter over 30 years ago. She has taught throughout the United States to thousands of artists and continues to explore a variety of media.
Julie is also the CEO for Saint John's Program for Real Change - a women and children's residential shelter and vocational training program breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness, one family at a time.
Julie holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science from University of CA at Davis. She is married with two children, two dogs, a cat and loves to trail run.
